All types of skilled workers are in high demand in Australia. A recent report of Deloitte claims that the employers are unable to find workers meeting the required skills, the result being many jobs left unoccupied.

In May 2019, over 240,000 jobs were vacant in varied sectors, the major occupations facing skill shortage being the Motor Mechanics, Electricians, Bakers, Chefs, Cooks, Optometrists, Sonographers, Nurses and Teachers.
