France Travel News: The French government has declared that travel restrictions imposed on British citizens will be removed in the near future.
According to SchengenVisaInfo.com, following the cabinet meeting on January 5, the French government’s spokesperson, Gabriel Attal, stated that the authorities have decided to increase the list of compelling reasons under which UK travelers are given access to France.
However, it was not specified when the new entrance limits would take effect or who would be allowed to enter France.
Following a surge in COVID-19 infection cases in France, such a statement to relax travel requirements for Britons has been made. Previously, France chose to limit access to persons with the Omicron type to prevent it from spreading further on its soil.
All non-essential travel from the United Kingdom to France has been prohibited since December 18. Only UK citizens with a compelling need to visit France, such as French legal residents, those traveling for urgent family problems, or those who need to do critical activities, are permitted entrance under the existing restrictions.
Travelers who are allowed to enter France from the United Kingdom must adhere to severe entrance requirements. Currently, all visitors to France, including fully vaccinated Britons, must provide a negative PCR or fast antigen test result obtained within 24 hours of their arrival.
Apart from the testing requirement, visitors from the United Kingdom must enter France and immediately enter self-isolation. If a negative test result is provided, the quarantine period might be removed after 48 hours.
