The H-1B cap season for FY 2023 has begun, and economic circumstances are expected to enhance demand for high-skilled foreign workers.

Employers are advised to start arranging for H-1B visas immediately and should anticipate fierce competition for employees who may have numerous job offers.

Both for bachelor’s and advanced degree holders, the number of registrations consistently outnumbers the number of cap-subject H-1B visas available. Next year will almost certainly be no different.

For those who are new to the process or need a reminder, here is some crucial information:

In the weeks leading up to April 1, petitioners seeking cap-subject H-1B visas must submit an electronic registration for each potential H-1B candidate.

The dates on which registrations will be accepted have yet to be announced by USCIS. The registration period has been in March for the past two years.

In the 90-day period commencing April 1, petitioners whose registrations are chosen in the lottery will be asked to file complete H-1B petitions.
