Strong Women in IT 2021 report is a profile of 200 notable women who lead companies in the new tech industry. 

Some of the world’s brilliant minds talk about their triumphs and challenges, the benefits and difficulties of working in the IT business, and the influence of the pandemic on their professional careers, making this a one-of-a-kind research.

The research is a response to all those who argue that, despite an increase in the number of women on the boards of IT businesses, there is still a lack of female role models who can encourage other women that are just starting out in the field.

Elena Antoneac, Founder & CEO at xpath.global, is one of the lucky leaders who were distinguished with this recognition. During her career, she has worn many hats: she began as an expatriate in Belgium, where she won a scholarship from the Solvay Business School. With a legal background, she chose to work as an HR Executive for a large Romanian multinational, where she learned about the challenges that an HR department.  Moreover, she built an award-winning consultancy company to provide specialized compliance services.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF WORKING IN THE TECH INDUSTRY

“I believe that everyone should create their personal brand first, know their audience and adapt to it. It might get controversial, but being successful is a choice. If you really want to achieve professional excellence, you must work your tail off. Find something you enjoy doing, create your social network, be flexible, gain people’s trust and be persistent. Afterward, the results will inevitably follow.” said Elena Antoneac.

ADVICE FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO PURSUE A CAREER IN TECHNOLOGY

“Look for professional environments where you can learn massively. I encourage you to start with a start-up or a small company. There you have the possibility to train your skills and to discover your superpowers. Work hard and ask for more tasks if you think you don’t have enough. Make sure every hour of your working time is filled with new tasks from which you can learn something. The knowledge and experience you get along the way mean that your value grows on a daily basis. Go for it!” – continued Elena.
