Germany’s federal government has decided to raise the minimum wage to 10,45 euros per hour by the middle of 2022. The increase will be phased in over four six-month increments.

Germany’s statutory minimum wage is increasing.

By mid-2022, Germany’s statutory minimum wage will have risen from 9,35 euros per hour to 10,45 euros. According to reports in the media, the federal cabinet enacted a comparable decree on Wednesday from Labor Minister Hubertus Heil.

The hike will be phased in beginning January 1, 2021, when the minimum wage will climb by 15 cents. Three further rises of 10, 22, and 63 cents will follow, bringing the minimum hourly salary to 10,45 euros by mid-2022. Overall, this will result in salary rises of roughly 1,3 billion euros for German workers.
